Michael Samson
About
I'm a marketing operations leader who believes systematic revenue growth beats guesswork every time.
Over 8+ years, I've built demand generation infrastructure for B2B SaaS and manufacturing clients. I grew my consulting practice to six-figures with 38% Quarter-over-Quarter profit growth (as a solo-founder), then scaled that expertise during my time supporting Xbox's enterprise sales at Microsoft.

My Simple Approach
- Understand the full buyer journey (the whole flywheel)
- Build the system myself first (workflows, automations, dashboards)
- Prove it works with real pipeline data
- Systematize it to scale without me
What I Bring
HubSpot Expertise
More than just a user - I've built custom integrations with Python OAuth2.0.
Full-Funnel Thinking
MQL generation is meaningless without conversion to pipeline.
Operational Frameworks
Process documentation, systematic training, measurable outcomes.
Player-Coach Mentality
I architect strategy AND build campaigns myself.
I'm a builder who thrives at the intersection of strategic planning and hands-in-the-mud execution.
Open to director-level MOps/RevOps roles with B2B SaaS.
Remote or Los Angeles preferred
I'm looking for a role where I can apply my entrepreneurial experience building revenue systems at scale, with a team, with impactful results.

Super Skills
Developed with the PricewaterHouseCoopers
"Personal Brand Experience."
I see what's broken, design a fix, and make shit happen - building it all to scale without me at the wheel.
Systems Builder
I take chaos and turn it into repeatable, scalable processes. I naturally see how pieces fit together and build frameworks that work without me.
Problem Solver
I dig past surface issues to find what's really broken. While others treat symptoms, I fix root causes and spot patterns no one else sees.
Bias for Action
I move fast, take smart risks, and learn by doing. I'd rather test and iterate than wait for perfect information. I get things started.
Strategic Thinker
I see the big picture and how today’s decisions create tomorrow’s leverage. I naturally think about impact at scale, not just immediate wins.
Relentless
I built a six-figure international marketing and technology consulting firm by 25 years old as a teen co-parent with undiagnosed mental illness. I don't just push through adversity - I build systems that keep moving forward.

Professional Experience
SamsonMedia - Founder & Lead Demand Generation Consultant
Location: Appleton, WI
JUL 2017 - Present
I built SamsonMedia from the ground up as a marketing and technology consulting practice - and a laboratory for testing what actually works in B2B demand generation and marketing automation.
Working with B2B SaaS and manufacturing clients, I've spent 8+ years in the trenches: building HubSpot workflows at 2am, debugging API integrations, optimizing email sequences, and proving that systematic revenue operations beats spray-and-pray vibe-coded marketing all day, every day.
What I Built:
- 38% QoQ profit growth by treating my own business like a client: ruthless funnel optimization, disciplined CAC management, and systematic process documentation
- 100% client retention across SaaS, Healthcare, Manufacturing, and Professional Services through verified pipeline growth
- 100% MoM web traffic growth proving SEO still works when you understand search intent and buyer psychology
How I Work: I'm a builder first. I don't hand you a strategy deck and disappear. I architect the system, build the first version myself, prove it works, then systematize it so your team can scale it.
My expertise sits at the intersection of strategic thinking (operational frameworks, buyer journey mapping, full-funnel attribution) and hands-on execution (Python API integrations, workflow automation, custom dashboard development).
Team Leadership: I've directed teams of 10+ (SDRs, designers, copywriters, developers, PMs) and owned full P&L responsibility including budgeting, forecasting, vendor management, financial reporting. I know what it takes to scale operations while maintaining quality.
Current Status:
Consulting part-time (10-15 hrs/week) while actively seeking a director-level Marketing Operations or Revenue Operations role where I can apply this entrepreneurial revenue-building experience at scale in a B2B SaaS environment.
Live In The Lobby - Co-Founder / Director of Marketing and Sponsorships
Location: Appleton, WI
FEB 2023 - JUL 2023
A creative experiment that taught me valuable lessons about launching in a completely new vertical.
We set out to support independent artists with free production and promotion services, funded by sponsors. My role: build the demand generation engine from zero.
What We Shipped:
- 16-episode virtual entertainment series that served as both content marketing and proof-of-concept
- Full go-to-market strategy across paid ads, organic content, and partnership outreach
- Website designed for dual conversion: attract artists + generate sponsor leads
- Managed 2-person creative team producing video, graphics, and social content
The venture didn't scale long-term, but it reinforced critical lessons on sustainable growth requiring product-market fit AND operational discipline. Beautiful creative without pipeline metrics is expensive art.
Microsoft / Xbox* - CRM & Marketing Operations Manager
*Contract via Aquent
Location: Remote
FEB 2022 - NOV 2022
Brought in to own HubSpot CRM administration and marketing automation for Xbox's enterprise sales and partner programs.
What I Delivered:
- 68% deal-create-to-close-won conversion rate through targeted email nurture campaigns that actually matched enterprise buying cycles
- 5-day reduction in average sales cycle by building HubSpot automation that eliminated manual status updates and kept deals moving
- 5% month-over-month CTR improvement on email campaigns through relentless A/B testing of subject lines, content hierarchy, CTA placement, send timing
- Sub-0.25% unsubscribe rate (industry average is 0.5%+) by treating inbox respect as a core KPI: segmentation, engagement scoring, and frequency capping
- Real-time executive dashboards tracking pipeline health, forecast accuracy, and campaign performance (no more "I'll pull that report and get back to you")
The Work: This was pure marketing operations - CRM admin, data governance, sales enablement, process automation, email marketing, and integration management.
I ensured Xbox's customer-facing teams had clean data, clear workflows, and reliable reporting to make decisions. But I also owned the less glamorous (yet critical) work: maintaining HubSpot integrations that kept the entire tech stack in sync.
Tech Stack I Maintained:
- WordPress
- PandaDoc
- QuickBooks
- Slack
- Stripe
- Zapier
- Zendesk
- Zoom
When integrations break, revenue grinds to a halt. I kept them running, monitored data quality, and troubleshot failures before they impacted the business.
Great marketing automation means understanding the buyer journey, eliminating friction, maintaining system reliability, and proving ROI with numbers you can trust.
